I'm in no way a sports fan or
player, but I try to keep in some kind of shape, so I cross-country ski
when it snows, which is not too often, rock climb, and lift weights pretty
regularly.
Though the 105-pound dumbells pictured here aren't exactly what I use, you can probably get the idea. I enjoy lifting weights, myself, other people, or whatever else I can get my hands on. Right now I'm doing 25 pull-ups (palms toward face), 17 chin-ups (palms away), 100 situps, 19 push-ups, 13 military-presses of 40 pounds, and 20 curls of 32 pounds, plus wall sits, forward and reverse wrist curls, and stretches.
I really like to climb. I'm not great, and I just really got into it, but I like it a lot. Right now I climb at the local rock gym (Rock Wallabees) with my dad, Ed Ward, about every other week. He's one of the better climbers there, despite the fact that he's in his fifties, so it's cool.
I also x-country ski a bit, which I enjoy. I skate ski, which is a modern technique, and it's FAR from the old left/right/left/right. The legs' motion for basic skate skiing is just like rollerblades or ice skating, and you double-pole every other step (for righties, every time you place your right ski). There are some other techniques, for various combinations of speed and efficiency, which are used like gears on a bike. To pass someone you might double pole every beat, for a burst of speed, and on a long flat or descending surface, double pole between beats to attain momentum and glide.
Lastly, I fence with the club at school, mainly because it's a free gym waiver and because some of my friends are in it. But it's not a bad sport either. Lots of finicky technique stuff. I recommend it for anyone with sick dedication and a sharp mind.
I do none of these things competitively.
I don't really know why not, but I guess it's that sports are something
I do for fun and for keeping in shape, and not because I want to be good
at them.
NETSCAPE.COM............I
use Netscape Navigator 4. I
think it's a good browser (It
works, reads java) so get it!
Plus, Netscape.com has a decent
search engine and some fun
goodies. It's my fave portal,
d00d.
ALTAVISTA.NET...........Altavista
is, in my opinion, the
best search enginge for
information. It lacks in glitz, but
for real info, it's the best.
TRIPOD.COM.................Well,
they give you that
annoying little window, and
never shut up, and you have to
update your page every month to
keep it, but it's my home sweet
home. Tripod has a good
pagemaker and services.
Anyway, if they didn't make me
update my page, you wouldn't
get to share in my wonderful
insight, right?
THEONION.COM.........I
think it's the only online
satirical newspaper. And it's
funny!
THE
KoRn KhIID'S.......Well, his page may seem like the
OrPhAnAgE......................typical
ravings of a deranged
lunatic, but in real life he's a
cool person. Check this out, ye
KoRn fans and skater-heads.
JAVANET.COM..............My
ISP! Standard fare. They serve
Western Mass, and then some.
Nice guys, too.
